Building Custodian Competition No: 18-3304-003WB

Field Operators Competition No: 18-2911-001WB
Key responsibilities:
• Provide assistance to the Fire Service Instructors
• Operation of the fuel, water, and supply systems

Job Requirements:
• Knowledgeable and familiar with pumping apparatus, SCBA refilling, and operation of our fueling systems
• A fire service background would be an asset, however, additional training will be provided to ensure the candidate meets the competency requirements of our Safety Management System

These are Casual AUPE appointments at the Vermilion campus, commencing July 1, 2017. The regular work week is Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are able to work on a part-time call-in-as-needed basis, we are willing to accommodate your work schedule.

Campus Patrol Officer Competition No: 18-3401-001WB
Key responsibilities:
•  Assisting students on a regular basis by helping with various needs or problems such as: escorting on campus, parking problems, noise complaints, room lock outs, unwanted guests, etc.
•  General protection of campus property through mobile and foot patrols.
•  Monitoring and reporting of criminal activity while checking areas and watching for individuals who are banned from campus.
•  Through regular patrol, monitor for any suspicious activity (e.g. strange vehicle after hours, possible break-ins, vandalism).
•  Supplying 24 hour shift coverage on weekends gives the campus protection and availability of assistance for staff and students.
•  Keeping a liaison between the Resident and College staff and with outside agencies (RCMP, Ambulance, Hospital, City/Town,  and Municipality).
•  Routine checks that all buildings are secure: locked, no doors propped, windows left open, lights on at entrance, all doors  closed properly, changing door batteries etc.
•  Monitoring security camera and alarm monitoring systems on a continuous basis.
•  Provide a professional approach to interactions with staff, students and guests of Lakeland College.

Job Requirements:

•  High school diploma, must be bond-able
•  Preference given to candidates with the Alberta Basic Security Training Certification, but are willing to train
•  Maintain/hold current driver’s license, have a clean criminal record, Standard First Aid and CPR
•  Excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership, organization, problem solving, and decision making skills are required

This is a Casual AUPE appointment at the Vermilion campus, commencing as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2018.

Painter Competition No: 18-3302-001WB

Key responsibilities:
• Maintenance and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial finishing or coating
• Paint many surfaces using different products in order to protect, preserve, restore, and sanitize
• Identify what paints will perform best in each situation for fire protection/insulation as well as to decorate
• Knowledge of how paint should be applied using brushes, rollers, spray or dipped
• Knowledge of different spray equipment and safety requirements

Job requirements:
•Painting experience
• Journeyman Painter Ticket
• Use all types of ladders and set up different styles of scaffolds

This is a Full-time AUPE appointment at the Vermilion campus, commencing as soon as possible. The current salary range is $53,365 - $67,252 per annum. Lakeland College offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Administrative Assistant to the Dean and Associate Dean, Agricultural Sciences Competition No: 18-2500-0001WB
Key responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and coordination of Administrative Support staff for the School of Agricultural Sciences, overseeing work distribution, work accuracy and organization
• Office Management and coordination of activities including the following;
        Assisting with budget preparation and coordination, monitoring as well as variance reporting
        Preparation of letters and other written materials
        Organizing and scheduling meetings and appointments for the Dean and Associate Dean
• Communication and liaison with the Chair of the department, other staff, students, industry partners, internal and external for the purpose of improving communication effectiveness and project completion
• Assisting with setting up seminars/conferences and advisory committee meetings

Job Requirements:

• Post-secondary Office Administration Certificate and five years’ experience
• Strong working knowledge of MS office
• Strong communication, written, and oral skills
• Must be a self-starter and work independently and make decisions based on established guidelines, standards and precedent

This is a Full-time Permanent AUPE appointment at the Vermilion campus commencing November 1, 2017. The current salary range is $45,625 - $57,497 per annum and includes a generous benefit package and pension plan.

• Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, Aquatic Emergency Care
• National Lifesaving Society Certification, Water Safety Instructor Certification
• 02 Administration, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• 6 months of experience working in an aquatic environment would be an asset.

Communications and Digital Media Associate Competition No. 18-5100-001WB
Key responsibilities:

• Creating and delivering content for a variety of platforms and communications tools to help the college achieve its goals
• Writing news releases, emails, scripts, speeches, website copy, fundraising material, marketing campaign copy and more
• Developing content for and uploading it to Lakeland’s website, social networks and mobile app
• Providing troubleshooting services to department website updaters and training departments and student groups on how to add content to Lakeland’s mobile app
• Collaborating with other members of the Marketing and Communications team and staff and students throughout the college
• Creating and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets and assists with media inquiries

Job Requirements:

• Diploma in a related field, Bachelor’s is preferred
• Strong writing skills and interest in digital marketing
• Very active in social media and an early adapter of new social media channels
• Ability to use a variety of design programs including Adobe’s Creative Suite and website content systems
• Must be flexible and able to handle multiple projects at once
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines
