Corporate Accountant Competition No: 17-3100-001RE2WB

We are looking to hire an energetic, highly motivated financial leader who thrives in a dynamic environment to join our financial services team.  You should have a demonstrated track record related to project management, financial reporting, as well as strong communication skills in a complex business environment.

You’ll work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure effective financial oversight of projects, as well as the effective design and implementation procedures for procurement and contract administration. 

Key responsibilities:
    •    Project Accounting (50%)
            o    Accounting for capital and construction project costs, as well as major maintenance projects
            o    Reporting on project expenditures and commitments both within the project teams as well as generating reports for senior decision-makers
    •    Contract Management & Procurement (25%)
            o    Overseeing the College’s processes and procedures surrounding contracts and procurement
            o    Act as preliminary legal review for low-risk contracts
            o    Design and conduct training program to promote compliance with policy
    •    Financial reporting for both internal and external audiences (25%)
            o    Produce a range of financial statements and ad-hoc reports for use by stakeholders and decision-makers
Job Requirements:
    •    A professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA)
    •    Five to seven years of experience encompassing financial responsibilities in a complex environment
    •    Experience supervising in a unionized environment
    •    High-level user understanding of business computer systems including Microsoft Office products and ERP systems
    •    Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards would be an asset

On-Farm Energy Management Program Outreach Officer Competition No: 17-2608-001WB
You’ll deliver assistance to agricultural enterprises in the east-central region of Alberta who are adopting energy conservation and renewable energy technologies and accessing the Alberta Government’s On-Farm Energy Management program.

Key responsibilities:
•  Organize and conduct demonstrations, tours and workshops in the region
•  Educate the community in renewable energy options
•  Liaise with local industry
•  Develop newsletters, articles, and other extension materials

Job Requirements:
•  A valid driver’s license for extensive travel within the region  
•  Knowledge of western Canadian agriculture and farming practices

Tool Crib/Laboratory Technician Competition No: 17-2406-002WB
We are looking to hire a Tool Crib/Laboratory Technician in the Auto/Diesel department.

Key responsibilities:
• Work directly with apprentices enrolled in Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Equipment and Parts Technician programs
• Work in collaboration with the Trades instructors, College support services, internal and external laboratory technicians and faculty to exchange information to ensure efficient facility usage
• Facilitate the daily operation of the Tool Crib, schedule lab facilities and shop equipment usage
• Inventory control
• Maintenance of crib supplies and equipment
• Ensure all activities function within the assigned multi-trade department
• Compliance with all industry standards and health and safety policies relating to handling of Tool Crib equipment

Job Requirements:
• Mechanical background
• Ability to operate various pieces of equipment
• A Journeyman certificate is preferred

This is a Full-time Permanent AUPE appointment at the Vermilion campus commencing April 18, 2017.

The current salary range is $51,264 - $64,604 per annum and includes a generous benefit package and pension plan.

These casual AUPE appointments are to commence as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2016, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. The department operates year round, seven days per week, 24 hours per day, with three different shifts each 24 hour period. The day shift is 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the evening shift is 4:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. and the night shift is 12:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The successful candidates will be required to work up to a maximum of 32 hours per week (4 shifts) during the period of Monday to Sunday.















































The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and must be bondable. Security experience would an asset, but we are willing to train. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with the Alberta Basic Security Training Certificate. If you do not have this certificate we are willing to provide on the job training, which must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.

Campus Patrol Officers (Vermilion) Competition No: 17-3401-001WB
Lakeland College invites applications for Campus Patrol Officers at the Vermilion campus. Responsibilities will be to ensure the safety and security of students and staff during off-hours (evenings and weekends), and to patrol, inspect, and respond to any unusual situations in and around campus buildings and grounds.

These casual AUPE appointments are to commence as soon as possible and end June 30, 2017, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. The department operates year round, seven days per week, 24 hours per day, with two different shifts available. The evening shift begins at 4:15 p.m. and ends at 12:15 a.m. and the night shift begins at 12:15 a.m. and ends at 8:15 a.m. You may be required to work up to a maximum of 32 hours per week.

The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and must be bondable. Security experience would an asset, but we are willing to train. The Aquatic Centre requires Junior Lifeguard/Swimming Instructors who will be responsible for lifeguarding patrons, instructing swimming lessons, promoting a safe environment for patrons and staff, and general maintenance and cleaning.

The successful candidates will have the following qualifications: Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, Aquatic Emergency Care, National Lifesaving Society Certification, Water Safety Instructor Certification, and 02 Administration. Six months of experience working in an aquatic environment would be an asset.

These are casual AUPE appointments, at the Vermilion campus, commencing as soon as possible and ending June 30, 2017, with the possibility of extended employment past this date. Hours may vary.

Competition will remain open until suitable candidates are found.

The Aquatic Centre requires Senior Lifeguard/Swimming Instructors. Responsibilities include lifeguarding patrons, instructing swimming lessons, promoting a safe environment for patrons and staff, providing direction to Junior Lifeguards, and general maintenance and cleaning.

The successful candidates will have the following qualifications: Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, Aquatic Emergency Care, National Lifesaving Society Certification, Water Safety Instructor Certification, 02 Administration, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
