Wireless Access on Campus

Wireless Internet Access

Lakeland College provides free wireless internet access to students, staff and faculty on both the Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses.

Our wireless network is bring your own device (BYOD).

If you are student - First sign into the network
You have to sign into the Lakeland network and activate your account before you can connect to our Wi-Fi.

It's easy.
  1. Go to a Lakeland computer.
  2. Log in using your user name and temporary password
  3. Change your password.

Now that your account is activated you can connect to LLC-BYOD, our wireless network. If you need help, there are instructions in the drop downs below for 3 types of devices..

Now connect to the network

This is how it works:
  1. Open the network settings on your device. Drop downs below have instructions for specific operating systems.
  2. Choose the network LLC-BYOD (that's for bring your own device).
  3. When prompted, enter your Lakeland College username and password.
  4. Connect.

Once you've configured (connected) your smart device, you should automatically connect with the LLC-BOYD network whenever you are on campus.

If you have a problem connecting to our Wi-Fi, please contact our IT support team. We're located in The Commons in Vermilion, and in room 2067 in Lloydminster.

We'll also be providing this access for campus guests. Watch for details.

Wi-Fi in residence
Wireless access in residence is separate. If you'd like individual wireless in your room, please contact the residence office on your campus.

Android Instructions
There are many makes and models, so your display might be different than the graphics. However the steps should work on all Android smart devices.

1. Open Settings and select  wi-fi.
2. Choose LLC-BYOD

4. Enter your Lakeland College username and password. This is what you use to sign on to a college computer. Then select connect.

iOS Instructions
These instructions are for iPhones or iPads.

1. Open Settings and select wi-fi

2. Choose LLD-BYOD

3. Enter your Lakeland College username and password. This is what you use to sign on to a college computer.

4. Select Trust

Mac Instructions
If you have a Mac laptop, follow these steps to configure your device. Then, you're automatically connected to the network.

1. Select System Preferences, then Networks.
2. Select Wi-Fi, then Show Wi-Fi status in the menu bar.
3. Choose LLC-BYOD.

Windows Instructions
There are 2 ways to connect with a Windows device including laptops and Surface tablets..

The first is the easiest. If it doesn't work, you'll have to go to the second method.

Method 1
Click on the wireless icon on your tool bar.

You'll see something like this graphic. Simply sign in and you're connected.

Method 2

Here's plan B.
  1. Open Network and Sharing Center via Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Network and Sharing Center
  2. Select Manually connect to wireless network>Next
  3. Enter the following information
    • Network name: LLC-BYOD
    • WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption type: AES
    • Select - Start this connection automatically. Circled in red on the graphic below.
    • Press next, and you're connected.
