FAQs: What You Should Know About Convocation
What should I wear?

This is a formal event. Out of respect for the event and for your fellow classmates, we ask that you wear dark colored trousers (no blue jeans) or dresses. It can be warm, so lighter fabrics are also a good idea.

Who can come to Convocation?

By splitting ceremonies in Vermilion and using the gymnasium on Lloydminster, there are no longer limits for your guests. So, bring your family.

When can family take photos?

All the time! When it's your turn to walk across the stage, we encourage your family to come down the centre aisle and get close to get your photo. There are a lot of great spots on both campuses to take photos of you, of you and your classmates and friends and of you and your family.

Is the bookstore open?

Yes it will be. Pick up souvenirs or a frame for your credential.

What's the convocation tea?

Ceremonies will be followed by a Convocation Tea co-sponsored by the Students’ Association. Light refreshments will be available at the cafeteria in Vermilion and the Servus Credit Union Hospitality Centre in Lloydminster.

What do I get to keep?

Your grad cap and tassel are yours to keep courtesy of your SA. Gowns and stoles must be returned by the specified times--5:00 pm in Vermilion and 4 pm in Lloydminster.

Is this the only copy of my parchment?

Yes. The document you receive at the ceremony is the original and only copy and should be stored in a safe place or framed and displayed. We recommend that you make a few photocopies in case you need to submit documentation for professional memberships or designations.

Is there somewhere to store my purse or other personal items during the ceremony?

No. We recommend that you give personal items to family or friends in the audience.

My grandmother can't attend, can she watch it another way?

We will be live streaming the ceremonies. A link will be on our website.
