AST Supply List
What to Bring With You
What to Buy Here
All textbooks will be available at the college bookstore. Lists aren’t sent in advance as changes are likely. Instructors will give you a list for each course.
We strongly recommend you bring your own laptop, printer, paper and ink to minimize the costs of printing your course notes and lab handouts.
You initially receive a $20 printing credit for college computer labs. You can add money to your account. However, your own printer will likely be less expensive.
Note: We recommend you print class notes. Research shows reading comprehension is considerably higher for printed materials than on a computer screen.
Equine major requirements
You should have enough experience riding to be able to lope without needing to hold onto the saddle horn.
You are in a learn-to-train program so you require a higher level of skill than is needed for riding lessons.
Better balance and riding skills are required on an untrained colt than on a gentle, older horse.
Horse health requirements
Tack & SuppliesRequired for the 1st day
Required later in the semester or in 2nd semester
You pay $1,000 per semester boarding fee as part of your college fees. This includes hay, bedding, indoor stall and turnout pen.
You have one stall for the program. If you are bringing any additional horses, you must submit a horse boarding application. These horses are stabled at the Rodeo Club Barn based on stall availability.
