Heavy oil power engineering graduate Tanner Shaw was presented the Governor General's Academic Medal in recognition of having the highest academic average across Lakeland for the 2019-20 school year.

Jason Kenney
Premier Jason Kenney visited campus to announce that the Government of Alberta is investing $17.3 million in the WHT Mead Animal Science Centre. Check out a video of the announcement here
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $1.1 million in Lakeland's education and skills training programs.
At the end of the semester, Lakeland shared its virtual practicum simulations to help Portage College's early childhood education students complete their program.
The Alberta Colleges Economic Recovery Task Force released its 15 initial recommendations to support economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Covid-19 response

While Lakeland is closed to the public, there are some external people permitted on campus. This includes contractors required to maintain college operations, families using on-campus child development centres, and other post-secondary students accessing Lakeland programming or services. Hank Holowaychuk left his mark on Lakeland when he attended in the late 1960s. Now, he's giving back by supporting the Support Our Students Enhanced Bursary Fund.
