Starting this fall, students in the animal science technology program will enter the two-year diploma program in a specific major: beef science, equine science, dairy science or livestock science. The new structure allows students in the beef, equine and dairy majors to take additional courses specific to that animal species.

2019 President's Gala tickets selling fast

On April 4, members of the community, industry leaders and friends of the college will enjoy an intimate evening together in support of Lakeland students at the 2019 President's Gala. Last week tickets were 50 per cent sold and now tickets are 75 per cent sold. Emceeing the seventh annual event are Quinn Hlus, a bachelor of applied science: environmental management student, and Tucker Cochrane, a bachelor of commerce student.

Stephanie Over and Tara Voogd, bachelor of applied science: environmental management degree students, were among the 19 students who presented at the 2019 Conference on Environmental Management. Both Over and Voogd received awards for their work at the inaugural event.

Distinguished alumni honoured

Lakeland College salutes its alumni who have made significant contributions or who have achieved major accomplishments after graduation with its distinguished alumni program. The 2019 Distinguished Alumni were honoured recently at the Donor Celebration events: Chris Cederstrand, Class of 2004 firefighting, at the Vermilion campus, and Bob MacDermott, Class of 1991 rehabilitation services, at the Lloydminster campus. 

Spring 2019 Excel now available

The latest alumni magazine - the Spring 2019 issue of the Excel - is hot off the press! Copies will be available around each campus soon, or you can read the Excel online now. This issue features a range of alumni features, campus news, information about Homecoming 2019 and more.

Rustlers roundup 

Twenty-two student-athletes on the Rustlers Athletics Rodeo Team will compete at the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Canadian College Finals Rodeo later this weekend. The Rustlers men's futsal team brought home silver from the ACAC Futsal Championships. The Rustlers men's curling team competed at the 2019 CCAA/Curling Canada Championships earlier this month in Fredericton. The Rustlers women's basketball team earned a bronze medal at the ACAC Women's Basketball Championships.
