Prepare to apply
There are 3 steps you will need to complete to apply to Lakeland.
- Create an Alberta.ca Account. Only a basic account is required to complete an application to Lakeland.
- Create an Apply Alberta profile. Have a list of your high school courses and marks. If currently in Grade 12, or upgrading, a transcript will not include current or future enrolment. You will need to declare those courses on the application.
- Apply to Lakeland College. There are 5 pages to complete Lakeland’s online application. Apply to one program only. If you do not see a program or start date listed, it may not be available. Ask Enrolment or Admissions to confirm before applying.
If you would like to change your program choice after an application has been submitted, send an email to the Admissions team to discuss your options. In many cases, we can update your application for the same term.
Applications will not be deferred to a future intake and application fees are non-refundable.

Part tour guide and part advisor, your enrolment specialist can help you from before you apply right up to the day you register for classes. Find the specialist for your program, then call, text or email. |
Admission requirements |
Admission requirements vary by program. Go to the programs and courses page and select the A to Z program listing to choose a program. Once on the program overview page, navigate to the Requirements header to view Admission requirements. |
English proficiency |
All applicants, regardless of citizenship or country of origin, must meet English Language Proficiency. Check out our English language requirements. |
Special admissions |
If you are missing or deficient in one or more academic courses that are required for a program. You may be able to gain admission through our Special admissions process, by completing an entrance test(s). Note: some exclusions apply. |
Academic prep |
If you are short an academic requirement, our academic prep modules may help you enter a specific program. After we look at your transcripts, we may refer you to this free service. |
Homeschool admissions |
Every applicant must provide an official transcript. For example, a provincial education department transcript with marks for recognized students. If you don't have an official transcript, please provide the documents you do have. We'll evaluate them, and if necessary refer you to entrance testing and or academic prep modules. For more details, check the homeschool admissions page. |
Subject & grade equivalencies |
Subjects and grades aren't standardized across Canada. We have created a chart that shows the current equivalent. This is only a guide and prior equivalents will still be considered. Admissions will assess the documents provided. Check the provincial subject and grade equivalencies. |
Learner supports |
Lakeland offers academic and other supports through our Commons team. These supports include access to a learner strategist, counselling, wellness, tutoring and accessibility services. If you have a documented disability, our Accessibility Services can help connect you to accommodations, resources, and services you need to achieve your goals. |
