Canada's best women's collegiate basketball teams will be at Lakeland College in March to compete for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championship banner.

Lakeland Rustlers, currently ranked number one in the country, will compete for their second national medal in three years. The team earned a bronze medal at the 2022 national championship in Nanaimo, B.C.

Alan Rogan, Lakeland's athletics director, said the interest in the championship has been spectacular.

“We quickly sold out 250 event passes thanks to the incredible support of Rustler Nation,” says Rogan, highlighting the students, staff, alumni and community members who are fervent supporters of the Rustlers teams.

The final 50 event passes will be available March 3 when the participating teams are announced. Tickets will also be available at the door.

The championship begins March 13 at 1 p.m. with the Lakeland Rustlers taking the court for their first game at 6 p.m.

In addition to the host Rustlers, the tournament will feature seven other teams from across Canada: conference champions from the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST), ACAC, Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA), as well as two wildcard teams one from the PACWEST and one from the RSEQ.

Visit the CCAA website regularly for information about the teams, tickets, schedule and results.
