Understanding academic fees

Tuition is the major mandatory fee you will pay at Lakeland College. However, it is not the only mandatory fee. There are both mandatory instructional and non-instructional fees.

This page lists the different types of fees that you will pay, and some fees that you may pay during the course of the admission process or during the academic year.

Refer to the program pages for detailed information about the fees specific to your chosen program.

If you are looking for the different payment options available or for refund information, please visit our how to pay page.

Application fees

Applications are completed online through ApplyAlberta. There is a $90 application fee that must be paid using a credit card.

Learn more on our Get Ready to Apply page.

Applications are completed on Alberta's MyTradesecrets website, which includes a $35 non-refundable application fee that you or your sponsor will pay.

You can learn more on our Apprenticeship How to Register page.

You'll find the information for the cost of each course by viewing them on our Continuing Education platform.

Typically, there is not an application fee for these courses.

You can apply for a Foundational Learning program by visiting the programs page. The application is free to complete and you'll find specific fee information on each course page.

Tuition/mandatory instructional fees

Total instructional mandatory fees include tuition and course specific fees.

  • Fees will vary according to program enrolled in, the number of courses and credits taken, or course specific fees assessed.
  • Tuition fees are adjusted each year according to the regulations of Alberta's Tuition Fee Policy.

Many of our credit programs require a tuition deposit to confirm that the applicant is commited to attending. The deposit holds your seat in the program and will be applied towards tuition and fees. The tuition deposit amount will be included in your offer of admission letter.

  • The tuition deposit amount varies by program, but is typically $250 or $500 for domestic students and $1,500 for international students.
  • Some of our online programs do not require a tuition deposit, your offer letter will specify.

Below are the tuition and fees for each program at Lakeland College for both domestic and international students.
