Our hearts are with everyone affected by the tragic events at CFB Wainwright on October 17. On behalf of Lakeland College, I extend my deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues grieving the loss of loved ones, and my thoughts are with those who have been injured and everyone navigating the impact of this tragedy.

I also want to commend the first responders, health care professionals and everyone who has provided care and support.

As our neighbours in the Wainwright community navigate the aftermath, the Lakeland community holds everyone affected in our thoughts. We recognize that this news may be deeply felt by members of our college community, including students and employees with personal connections to those affected.

Please know that you are not alone. Support is available to Lakeland students and employees who may be struggling or need someone to talk to. I encourage anyone who needs support, or who is concerned about a colleague or fellow student, to reach out to the resources available through the college.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected.
