Respect in the Workplace – A Foundation for Our College Community
In a world where perspectives, experiences and challenges are constantly evolving, one value remains essential — respect. At Lakeland College, respect is not just a word in our mission or vision statements; it is a daily practice that defines how we learn, work and grow together.
The way we treat one another — whether in classrooms, offices, barns or labs — shapes our culture and, ultimately, our success. Respect builds trust, encourages collaboration and ensures every person feels valued for their contributions. It creates space for new ideas and helps us navigate difficult conversations with empathy and understanding.
That’s why we continue to emphasize the importance of Respect in the Workplace. This training helps us recognize how our words and actions affect those around us and reminds us that respect is everyone’s responsibility. I strongly encourage all employees to complete the training, reflect on its lessons and take them forward in their daily interactions.
Respect is not only about compliance or completing a course — it’s about choosing, every day, to act with integrity, kindness and consideration. When we each do that, we strengthen the very foundation of our college community and set an example for our students and partners to follow.
As we look ahead, let’s continue to make Lakeland a place where every person feels seen, heard, and respected.
Take care,
Alice
