Helping your students apply to Lakeland College is simple.

  • Every student applies through ApplyAlberta (it’s quick but be sure they use a desktop or laptop computer).
  • Early birds (applicants) get the bonus of extra time to sort out housing, financial aid and scholarships.
  • Students should not wait to apply to our energy, veterinary technology and pre-employment programs.

Students should not use a parent’s or school email when applying. They should use a personal email address they’ll keep after graduation so they never miss important updates.

Alberta students

Good news! Lakeland College will receive high school transcripts directly from Alberta Education if students attended an accredited Alberta high school.

  • An official transcript is required for final admission.
  • We may be able to offer students conditional admission.
  • Students who attended a high school not accredited by Alberta Education is responsible for requesting and submitting official transcripts directly to Lakeland College.

From another province? No problem.

If you attended a high school outside of Alberta, students are responsible for requesting and submitting official transcripts directly to Lakeland College.

For information on ordering an official high school transcript from your province or territory, visit the ALIS Alberta website.

  • Once students apply, our admissions team reviews their application. It may take up to 4 weeks before they can make a decision.
  • Tell your students to keep an eye on their email inbox (and junk folder), and their My Lakeland portal regularly for updates.
  • Need help with My Lakeland? We created a guide to using our student portal.
  • Admissions may request information or documentation to be able to make a decision on their application.

Students interested in the apprenticeship route follow a different registration process through Alberta Apprenticeship & Industry Training (AIT).

Here’s the game plan:

  1. Students need to find an employer who’s ready to bring them on as an apprentice.
  2. Once they’ve secured a placement, it’s time to make an account with AIT. That’s where they’ll officially register as an apprentice.
  3. Then, they'll pick Lakeland as their training spot (yes, we’d love to have them!).

If they have questions, they can get guidance from our enrolment specialist for trades.

Out-of-province apprentices

For students outside Alberta, the steps are a little different.

  1. They'll register as an apprentice with their local apprenticeship authority in their own province or territory.
  2. Once they’re set up there, they can request a release to attend technical training at an Alberta post-secondary like Lakeland.
  3. We’re happy to welcome students from across Canada!

Residence

Students can apply to live in residence once they have accepted their program admission offer. Their acceptance letter will have instructions. Once they accept, they'll receive an email with information about preparing to attend Lakeland College including the link to apply to residence.

Students must fill out the residence application. Note: They should use a personal email address.

After submitting their application, students have 7 days to send their deposit to hold their spot. Directions are on the residence application.

Accessibility

At Lakeland, students can succeed without barriers.

We believe accommodations should be built around each student’s individual needs. The first step is connecting with a campus accessibility coordinator. We recommend reaching out as soon as a student is accepted.

Together, we’ll walk through eligibility, talk about their needs and make a plan that sets them up for success.
