Helping students find their place at Lakeland

I know what it feels like to wonder if you should give up.

After stepping away from school and basketball for three and a half years to focus on my health, I came to Lakeland College ready for a fresh start. But just four games into my first basketball season, I suffered a serious knee injury and questioned whether I had made the right decision.

What made the difference was knowing I wasn't alone. My coaches, teammates and instructors supported me, while access to counselling, tutoring and health care helped me rebuild my confidence.

Today, I know there are students at Lakeland struggling quietly, unsure where to turn. I know how much it matters when someone reaches out.
