Lakeland College's business administration certificate gives students a head start in business in only one year.
Available both in-person at the Lloydminster campus and online, the program aims to give students the skills they need to succeed, opening the door to a career in business. It's also an opportunity for students to explore a variety of business specialties before committing to the two-year diploma program.
“The business administration certificate is a great way to familiarize students with introductory business courses while teaching them important business skills and knowledge. After just one year, students can graduate and start their business careers or students can stay for one more year to earn a business diploma,” said Angela Minish, business chair at Lakeland College.
For journeypersons, the business administration certificate assists in fulfilling
the requirements for earning a Blue Seal designation. The designation, also called
the Achievement in Business Competencies, is an Alberta-based certification that requires
150 hours of business studies at an approved institution, like Lakeland.
“Students who have earned their Red Seal certification can also earn their Blue Seal by taking 150 hours of business courses. A Blue Seal provides students with the opportunity to prepare for careers in managerial, supervisory, entrepreneurial and/or other leadership roles,” said Minish.
Other one-year business certificate programs at Lakeland include accounting technician and administrative professional. Students in the two-year business administration diploma program can choose from general business, accounting, marketing, real estate appraisal and assessment, and small business and entrepreneurship majors.
