Outside the 2024 Round Up

The Round Up

Beginning as Beef Day in 2014, the Round Up has played an important role in animal science technology (AST) students' education for over a decade.

Each year, students from Student-Managed Farm — Powered by New Holland (SMF) units come together to showcase the livestock they've raised and the skills they've learned. They experience the same problems as other producers, whether it's hosting virtual sales during a pandemic or finding new solutions when feed is scarce. They learn how to market the sale, utilizing social media and joining the show circuit. This is learning in action.

In 2025, the sale raised a total income of $222,900:

  • Purebred beef: $136,000
  • Commercial beef: $50,900
  • Equine: $21,000
  • Extensive grazing: $15,000
