History of our feast
Feast on the Farm combines celebrating our agricultural roots along with supporting our students. In particular, supporting all the unique-to-Lakeland learning opportunities our students have for hands-on learning, as well as to lead and manage.
Examples include:
- design and construction of a natural playscape
- redesign of the interior design technology program's project room
- projects on the Student-Managed Farm - Powered by New Holland. Photo: Two agriculture technology degree students talk about the Agriculture Tech Centre at the 2022 Feast on the Farm.
- new equipment for hands-on learning at the Emergency Training Centre
- development of a family literacy project
Since 2016, when the event began, more than a quarter million dollars as been raised thanks to generous support from sponsors and guests.
Feast on the Farm has also given us a place to showcase some of our students and their activities.
- Students and recent alumni have served as emcees.
- In 2019 Lakeland launched 30th anniversary celebrations for the Student-Managed Farm - Powered by New Holland at the feast.
Our students have also ushered and served guests, sold raffle tickets, and help with
set up and clean up.
The feast experience
Feast on the Farm is both outdoors and indoors.
Its setting was once a working farm and now is part of the Research Centre on the west side of campus.
The meal and entertainment are all under canvas, a large event tent. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed with a touch of gala. Silent auctions, live auctions and raffles have offered participants a variety of ways to add to their support.
We've always had a photo booth - sometimes "out standing" in a field - as well as specific campus tours.

Support makes Feast happen
Without generous donors and the people who buy tickets to Feast on the Farm, the event wouldn't be possible.
Sponsorship comes in a variety of forms - from presenting sponsor to providing everything from appetizers to dessert.
As well, donors provide a number of silent auction attempts. We've also had live auctions and raffles.
In 2022 a signed Connor McDavid jersey and a signed Zack Hyman hockey stick were popular raffle items.
Also a key part of feast's success are the people who do the feasting. Many have attended every event, so tickets often sell out quickly. Pictured below are Mike and Michelle Webb.
Behind the scenes, Lakeland's staff team including volunteers provides the structure and extra details for a memorable evening.
