Frequently Asked Questions
Currently, Lakeland doesn't have any entrance scholarships for international students.
After completing at least a semester at Lakeland, international students are eligible for many of our awards, bursaries and scholarships.
The Canadian government has a website for non-Canadian scholarship opportunities. You don't say what country you are from, but there may be opportunities for you on that list. If you haven't already discovered EduCanada, take a look through the site.

However, not all programs are available for international students. You can see all eligible programs for international students before applying.

Students should apply and plan at least 6 months in advance.
Students need to apply early to give themselves enough time to complete all the required steps to study in Canada.
We encourage students to review the study permit processing times to ensure that they can receive their study permit by the deadline. Application deadlines can be found on the website.
English language proficiency is required, and further details can be found on our English language requirements page.
Accepted English language proficiency evaluation tests are:
- IELTS – Minimum 6.0 overall with 6.0 on each band score on the academic test
- TOEFL – Minimum 78 with 19 in each of the four tested areas of the iBT exam
- Duolingo – Minimum 100 overall with at least 95 on each sub-score

International students also have access to all student supports on campus, such as academic advising, mental health supports, Learning Success Strategists, campus nurse, library assistance and more.

Once the admissions team at Lakeland has all of the required documents, students can expect a response within 5-7 business days.
Once a student has been accepted they will receive their LOA (Letter of Acceptance) within 5-7 business days. After paying the tuition deposit, students will receive their PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter) within 3-5 business days. Those are the documents that students need from Lakeland College to submit a study permit application.
