High school students from across Alberta have taken dual credit courses through Lakeland College.
Courses available:

Dual credit courses are open to Alberta students in grades 10 through 12. Classes are live online. Recordings are also on D2L, Lakeland’s learning management system.
Courses, including textbooks, have been free of charge.

Course Descriptions

In this course, students are introduced to American Sign Language (ASL), its culture, and to the community of Deaf persons who use this language.
Students learn how to have basic conversations as well as use appropriate behaviours
within the Deaf Community.
- Lakeland credit: ASL 101 - 3 credits
- PSI 3214 - 5 credits
A prerequisite course to all other courses in the Sustainability Energy certificate & diploma programs, this course provides students with an understanding of principles of energy systems including electricity, heat, energy movement and water flow.
- Lakeland credit: RC 200 - 3 credits
- PSI 3220 - 5 credits
This course examines the health, safety, and nutrition needs of young children. It includes practical applications for supporting these needs in an early childhood environment.
- Lakeland credit: HE 158 - 3 credits
- PSI 3074 - 5 credits
This course will provide you with an overview of safe practices in the workplace regarding
bacteriology and sanitation. You will learn to formulate a professional image and
practice skills needed to work with the public.
- Lakeland credit: HS 160 - 3 credits
- PSI 3072 - 3 credits
This non-credit course will explain what heavy oil is and ways heavy oil is produced as well as explore the steps involved in getting heavy oil and natural gas out of the ground and in to the marketplace.

This course provides the student with an overview of the requirements of a safe working environment in which to practice hairstyling. Topics in the program focus on general and personal safety, hygiene and infection control, understanding of provincial regulations and understanding of the professional ethics that should be practiced and adhered to in the hairstyling profession.
