Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we have agreements with:

  • Athabasca University
  • University of Alberta
  • University of Calgary
  • University of Saskatchewan

You can find out more by visiting our University Transfer program pages.

The University of Saskatchewan Nursing program is a non-direct entry program. This means students are required to spend at least one year in a general arts and sciences program, and this pre-professional year can be completed at Lakeland College.

To continue into years two, three and four, all students must apply to USask and rank their preferred locations. While Lloydminster is an option, please keep in mind that placement there is highly competitive.

We don't recommend it.

Yes.

While we recognize transfer credits, the university you’re moving to ultimately grants the credential and determines which credits they will accept. You don't need to submit a formal transfer credit application in University Transfer; instead, please bring your transcripts to your next advising appointment.

You can also preview how your courses might transfer by using the Alberta Transfer Guide or specific university credit databases.

Transferring lets you move from one college or university to another without having to retake classes you’ve already passed. Our department works closely with partner schools across Alberta and Saskatchewan to make this transition as smooth as possible for you. However, transfers are not guaranteed, and several factors can affect whether your credits are accepted. For example, your grades, changes to your major or route, or an incomplete application can all impact the final decision.

At this time, the majority of our classes are delivered in person on our Lloydminster campus.

Students looking to transfer to an institution when there is no transfer agreement in place will have to assume the responsibility of confirming transferability directly with the receiving institution.
